Fewer daily drinkers

Neuchâtel, 3.9.2024 - In 2022, 83% of the Swiss population aged 15 and over drank alcohol. This proportion has remained stable since 1992. However, the share of people using alcohol on a daily basis has fallen from 20% to 9% over the past 30 years. Binge drinking at least once a month concerns mainly young men aged 15 to 24 (31% of this age group) and daily alcohol consumption mostly men aged 65 and over (31%). These are some of the results from the Federal Statistical Office’s (FSO) new publication dedicated to alcohol consumption.
